– About –
I am currently living in Oxford, Mississippi after moving here in August of 2017 in order to take a position as a visiting Instructional Assistant Professor of Theatre Arts at the University of Mississippi. Prior to this, I spent two years in Newport, Rhode Island, having moved there in 2015 to finish writing my dissertation while living near the ocean. Rhode Island has served as a kind of geographical base of operations for me since my family moved here when I was twelve, but I have also lived in Utah, California, Maryland, Virginia, and Pennsylvania. I hope to someday permanently move to Kauai, Hawaii. Though that prospect might very well be decades away, a boy can still dream.
My primary interest as a director, writer, and sound designer is the exploration of ambiguous worlds and liminal spaces; of people and characters struggling to navigate a life in which there are no final answers, only provisional moments of grace.
The importance of practical knowledge, scaffolding as a pedagogical tool, the classroom as community, and the necessity of reflective practices are all central to my teaching philosophy.
